Hiding suspect collared

A drug suspect who eluded arrest for three years finally fell into the hands of the law.

Operatives of the San Juan Police reported the arrest Monday of Philip Ferrer, 41, of C. Santos St., Barangay Balong Baton, San Juan City.

San Juan Police chief Senior Supt. Dindo R. Reyes said police operatives led by SPO4 Helen Baldoza served the warrant of arrest against the suspect at a construction site along N. Domingo St., Barangay Pedro Cruz at around 2:45 p.m.

The warrant was issued by Judge Juvencio Gascon of San Juan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 68 in 2015.

Ferrer tried to flee but the police cornered him before he could get away.

The suspect was first arrested in February 2008 for illegal drug use. He posted bail but failed to appear in the trial of his case.

According to the police, Ferrer moved from one place to another to avoid arrest. However, the authorities received a tip that several months ago the suspect went back to his residence and worked as a construction helper. CRP
