While there’s nothing definite yet on him seeking a Senate seat next year, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Saturday expressed elation over topping a Davao City survey on senatorial race favorites.

“It’s still very early. But thank you for trusting me, for trusting President Rodrigo Duterte and Mayor Sara Duterte,” Go said during the Bancarera event at Times Beach in Davao City.

The survey inspired him to work harder for Filipinos, Go said, adding “I am not a politician, but I am happy with what I am doing now.”

But Go hinted he might be persuaded by the President to accept his inclusion in the senatorial line-up of Mayor Duterte’s party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP). “It is up to President Duterte what he wants for me,” he said.

The trusted man of the President topped the survey conducted by the University of Mindanao -Institute of Popular Opinion (UM-IPO) with former Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa at second.

Go and De la Rosa were followed, in this order, by incumbent Senator Grace Poe, Rep. Pia Cayetano, Senators Sonny Angara and Koko Pimentel, Neri Colmenares, Francis Tolentino, Senators JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar and Nancy Binay.

The survey was conducted among 1,200 respondents in Davao City from 13 to 18 July , Dr. Maria Linda B. Arquiza, assistant vice president for Research and Publication Center of UM-IPO, said.

The survey poll had a margin of error of plus-minus three percent. KVD
