SAP Go honored for anti-cancer cause

Sec. Bong Go lauded the mechanical engineers for the vital role that they play in the development of the country as he was guest of honor and speaker during the 21st Southern Mindanao Assembly of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City on August 17, 2018. A warrior against the war for cancer, Sec. Bong Go of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President has been chosen this year to be among the “Men of Influence” enlisted by the Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) in promoting the worthy cause.

The PCS, since 1956, has been helping Filipinos cope with cancer through education, awareness and focused services. The organization is headed by event chairman Consul Helen Ong with Consul Ma. Agnes Huibonhoa, chairman for Men of Extraordinary Influence.

This year, Huibonhoa selected the prime movers in the private and public sectors to be part of the list of Men of Extraordinary Influence to champion the PCS fight against cancer.

Aside from SAP Go, the list includes Sen. Sonny Angara, GO-Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Y. Kim, Kevin Belmonte of the Philippine Star, food industry stalwart Rikki Dee, Davao businessman David Ong and luxury car pioneer Felix Ang.

The PCS’ 15th Annual Awards Ball will be held on 20 September at the Ballroom of Okada Hotel.

PCS activities lined up for this year are outreach services for clinical breast examinations, visual inspection of cervix, outreach cryotherapy procedure, outreach patient navigation program and outreach chemotherapy.
