Stranded travelers to wait longer

(MIAA) Travelers waiting to take their flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport since Friday will have to wait a bit longer today as authorities are still clearing the closed runway where a disabled Xiamen Air plane was removed at dawn after skidding on Friday amid bad weather.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is extending the closure of Runway 24 from 5 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, 18 August 2018 to give way for the demobilization of heavy equipment used to lift the aircraft from the site and clearing of debris and other foreign objects.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal apologized to the air riding public for all the inconvenience that the closure has caused them.

Monreal requested airlines to continuously inform their passengers of their revised flight schedules and make sure that their personnel are at hand to attend to passenger concerns.
