QC businesses owe BIR millions

Revenue official haled six business entities to court for their failure to pay the tax to the government.

Armed with documentary evidence, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Quezon City filed the complaint against Anglobuilders Construction and Development, Inc.; Citistar Transport; Dimanche Quality; Healthy You; Inter-Network and Rishamae Fastruck.

According to BIR Assistant Commissioner Marissa Cabreros, those charged failed to pay tax amounting to P81.59 million, including penalties.

Cabreros said due process was observed in charging the six erring companies that refused to pay for their transgressions, prompting revenue officials to sue them and make them own their tax obligations.

Anglobuilders is a domestic corporation engaged in the business of general construction and other allied businesses, including constructing site preparation, developing and constructing of buildings. The BIR said, the business has a P19 million tax liability.

Citistar Transport is engaged in transport business and has a tax deficiency of P6 million.

Dimanche is engaged in the import and export business and has tax liabilities of P6 million.

Healthy You is engaged in the retail sale of general nutrition products but owes the BIR P7 million.

Inter-Network has tax liabilities of P13 million while Rishamae Fastruck owes the agency another P4 million.

The BIR unit in Quezon City sent the various business entities preliminary collection letters and final notices before seizures that proved futile as the assessments remained unpaid.
