Makati shakes it good

Makati City yesterday staged a ceremonial kick-off for the third quarter of a nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill.

Mayor Mar-len Abigail Binay said the drill will reinforce the mission of the city government to inculcate disaster preparedness not only in their residents but also in the business community.

Romulo Cabantac Jr., director of the Office of Civil Defense –National Capital Region and Dr. Renato Solidum Jr., Phivolcs director, attended the activity held at the Legazpi Park in Barangay San Lorenzo.

Binay assured Cabantac and Solidum that her administration will consider and put into action the city’s enhanced earthquake contingency plan to ensure the safety of the residents.

“We have high hopes that this nationwide drill will help to catalyze the promotion of disaster preparedness in the lifestyle and culture of Filipinos across various localities and regions in the country,” Binay added. NSB
