List of 2019 holidays out

Malacañang on Thursday released the list of regular holidays and special non-working holidays for 2019.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation 555 on 15 August, which also includes 2 November (Saturday) and 24 December (Tuesday) as two additional non-working days throughout the country.

The two dates have been added “to strengthen family ties by providing more time for the traditional All Saint’s Day, All Soul’s Day and Christmas Day commemorative activities and will promote domestic tourism as well,” Palace states.

The 2019 regular holidays include: 1 January (Tuesday) – New Year’s Day; 9 April (Tuesday) – Araw ng Kagitingan; 18 April – Maunday Thursday; 19 April – Good Friday; 1 May (Wednesday) – Labor Day; 12 June (Wednesday) – Independence Day; 16 August (last Monday of August) – National Heroes Day; 30 November (Saturday) – Bonifacio Day; 25 December (Wednesday) — Christmas Day; and 30 December (Monday) – Rizal Day.

Special non-working days, on the other hand, are 5 February (Tuesday) – Chinese New Year; 25 February (Monday) – EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary; 20 April — Black Saturday; 21 August (Wednesday) – Ninoy Aquino Day; 1 November (Friday) – All Saint’s Day; 8 December (Sunday) – Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary; and 31 December (Tuesday) – Last Day of the Year.

The proclamation declaring national holidays for the observance of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha, two major feasts of Islam, will be issued after the dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra).

“To this end, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President of the actual dates on which these holidays shall respectively fall,” the proclamation stated.
