Gilas dominate Kazakhs, 96-59

(ESPN screengrab) A flawless Gilas Pilipinas overpowered Kazakhstan, 96-59, to score its first win in the Preliminary Round Group D of the 2018 Asian Games men’s basketball tournament at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia Thursday morning, 16 August 2018.

Gilas, which played minus National Basketball Association reinforcement Jordan Clarkson of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was sparked by Stanley Pringle who scattered 18 points against the listless Kazakhs.

Pringle, together with Maverick Ahanmisi, also strangled the Kazakhs in defense en route to a morale-boosting win ahead of the Philippines’ much-awaited match against a formidable China team on Tuesday.
