Rody, Go, friends aid typhoon victims

President Rodrigo Duterte, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and the latter’s friends on Monday started giving assistance to residents of Marikina, Taytay, and Quezon City that were affected by floods caused by typhoon Karding and the southwest monsoon over the weekend.

The President directed Social Welfare and Development Acting Secretary Virginia Orogo, National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Interior and Local Government Acting Secretary Eduardo Ano, and Health Secretary Francisco Duque to check on the needs of the victims of the typhoon, according to Go.

“Pinasisigurado po niya na mapapadala agad ang immediate relief goods mula sa national government sa mga naging biktima. Ang importante po walang nasaktan at naghihintay lang ang mga ito hangga’t makauwi sila sa kanilang tirahan po (He made sure that relief goods from the national government will be delivered immediately to the victims of Typhoon Karding. The important thing is that no one got hurt and they are just waiting to go home),” Go said.

As this developed, Go’s friends and supporters heeded his call for donations and committed to provide sleeping mats and shoes for the victims.

“In my private capacity po, may mga kaibigan po akong tumulong. Mga relief goods dito, pakain, lugaw, sapatos, at bukas po ‘yung mat, para meron naman silang medyo maayos naman po na higaan pwera sa karton, lalong lalo na ‘yung mga batang nakahiga lang doon. Malamig ‘yung sahig (In my private capacity, I have friends who helped. We provided relief goods, food like lugaw, shoes, and tomorrow, we will be providing sleeping mats so that they can replace their cartons and so they could sleep better. Especially for the children, the floor is cold to sleep on),” Go said.
