Andanar Special Envoy to Malaysia

Wencelito Andanar, former undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), will wear a new hat as he was appointed as Special Envoy to Malaysia by President Rodrigo Duterte recently.

Andanar is the father of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

He was also a former chairman of the Philippine Coconut Authority.

The Chief Executive signed his appointment papers on 9 August.

The elder Andanar, under Executive Order 594, was appointed special envoy “with expertise and experience to undertake special tasks or address certain issues, notably in international economic affairs.”

His appointment is renewable every six months.

Also among the newly-appointed officials whose designations were signed by the President on the same day were Jeffrey Ian Dy, who was named Deputy Commissioner in the Bureau of Customs and Julia Cecily Sosito, now a presiding commissioner of the Second Division of the National Labor Relations Commission.

Dy will replace Noel Patrick Prudente who was sacked by President Duterte for making unauthorized travels to Singapore and Europe.
