SWU grabs Magnolia U18 title

CEBU CITY — Southwestern University clobbered a select team from Tacloban City, 83-56, to win the Magnolia National Tournament U18 title recently at the Ormoc City Superdome.

It was the third straight crown of the Baby Cobras under new coach Jerry Abuyabor following an impressive title run in the Pinoy Youth Dreamers national title and the Cebu Youth Basketball League crown.

Abuyabor’s next target is to win the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. juniors crown from strong contenders like reigning champion University of the Visayas, University of Cebu and Sacred Heart-School Ateneo de Cebu.

Jack Nazario and Matt Flores, who were named co-Most Valuable Players, paced the Baby Cobras with 13 and 12 points, respectively while Kobe Kole ang Matt King Cabansay scored 10 points apiece.
