Photo by Yummie Dingding For approving the lease of government land under onerous terms, President Rodrigo Duterte sacked on Monday the entire Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) board, presidential spokesman Harry Roque announced yesterday.

“The President started the meeting by expressing his exasperation that corruption continues even in his administration,” Roque said, referring to the Cabinet conference.

He added that Duterte specifically cited the case of Nayong Pilipino which “leased government property for a ridiculously long period of time of 70 years… [The President] considered this as a contract which was grossly disadvantageous to government.”

Meanwhile, NPF chairman Patricia Ocampo reportedly broke down in tears upon being informed of their sacking while attending the ground-breaking ceremony for the Paranaque City resort project.

The undertaking with Hong Kong-based developer Landing International Development Limited was speculated upon as the reason for the firing of the foundation’s officials

Roque said the papers formally terminating the foundation’s officials will be issued in due course by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea. KVD
