40 drug suspects arrested overnight

In just one night a total of 40 suspected drug personalities, including two minors, were nabbed by police operatives in separate operations in the northern part of Metro Manila.

Chief Supt. Gregorio Lim, head of the Northern Police District (NPD), said the suspects were arrested on Friday night by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the police stations of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela (Camanava) City.

NPD data showed the Caloocan City’s DEU captured 20 drug pushers and users, the highest in the Camanava area.

Navotas City DEU came in second with 12 arrests, NPD’s deu nabbed 4 suspects, Malabon with 3 and Valenzuela with one arrested suspect.

Lim said the arrests also led to the confiscation of 60 sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.

What is alarming, according to Lim, is that two minors were among those arrested by the Caloocan City DEU.

Also on Friday, operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested a suspect for illegal possession of firearms but also found a huge volume of shabu in his possession.

Police Senior Insp. Val Valencia of Manila Police District Station 7 identified the suspect as Adrian Buenceslao, 31-year old and resident of 226 Malaya Street Balut, Tondo, Manila.

Arresting officers were able to recover from the suspect one 9 mm Taurus pistol loaded with five live ammunitions, 10 heat sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing approximately 50 grams and with an estimated street value of Php 250,000.

Likewise seized from Buenceslao were one (1) digital weighing scale and one (1) replica of a hand grenade.

The police said Buenceslao will face charges for illegal possession of firearms and violation of anti-drug laws.

Meanwhile, a 15-year old senior high school student was arrested by authorities upon receiving information from the boy’s teachers who caught him in the act of smoking marijuana inside a classroom in E. Rodriguez, Jr. High School in Quezon City.

The police confiscated from the student two sachets of marijuana and a lighter. He was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

In a separate operation the QC police also arrested Clinton Costinar and John Aron, both 20 years old, in Panay Avenue barangay South Triangle, also for smoking marijuana.

Another drug suspect, Brent Karl Miralles, 23, was arrested in front of Core Bar in Tomas Morato. Seized from the suspect were four tablets of ecstasy, P40,000 in cash, and the marked money used in the buy bust operation.
