Sweet note from the queens

They are looking forward for more activities like this to impart happiness despite their hectic schedules in preparation for their upcoming competitions.

Reigning Binibining Pilipinas queens and runners-up and Dairy Queen (DQ) Philippines started the month on a sweet note when they visited the Philippine Children’s Medical Hospital (PCMC) on 2 August as part of an outreach program. This partnership has been going on for three years now.

DQ Philippines, one of the beloved ice cream brands in the Philippines, built a name for itself with the signature Blizzard, which is known for being served upside down to customers. The brand prioritizes its social responsibility project called “Upside,” which aims to let less-fortunate children to experience life’s “upsides.” The afternoon program at the hospital’s lobby was full of games and surprises and children were treated with Dairy Queen ice cream products and meals provided by Taco Bell. Forty cancer and hematology patients showed their excitement and smiles for the camera during the balloon-and-bubble show.

The event was made memorable and meaningful when the reigning queens and runners-up joined in and shared their time with the children. The Binibining Pilipinas winners said that they were grateful for yet another charitable activity by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI). They are looking forward for more activities like this to impart happiness despite their hectic schedules in preparation for their upcoming competitions now that the pageant season has kicked in.

Miss Universe -Philippines Catriona Gray, who holds the distinction as the first Filipino to have won both Miss World Philippines in 2016 and Miss Universe Philippines in 2018, said that doing charity works is also her priority and that she wants to use her title to show her heart and extend a helping hand.

REIGNING beauty queens and runners-up with the children of Philippine Children’s Medical Hospital. With so much pressure on Filipino -Australian from Albay, Gray is very happy and excited to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant which will be broadcast live from Bangkok, Thailand on 17 December.

The Quezon-born Binibining Pilipinas-International Maria Ahtisa Manalo, the youngest of all the queens, will compete in Tokyo, Japan on 9 November. If she wins, she will be the seventh Miss International from the Philippines.

Binibining Pilipinas Supranational Jehza Huelar revealed that two of her family members died of cancer and that she shared the same sentiments with the afflicted families and has affection for them. Huelar’s second attempt at the Binibining Pilipinas earned her the title and she will represent the country in Poland on 7 December. If she wins, the Davaoeña will be the second Filipina after Mutya Datul, who won it in 2013.

Binibining Pilipinas-Grand International Eva Patalinjug is vying for Miss Grand International crown, the first time for the Philippines. The beautiful Cebuana will fly to Myanmar to compete on 5 October.

Binibining Pilipinas-Globe Michelle Gumabao, who arrived from a practice, was full of energy and personality. The De La Salle University volleyball player will be the first queen to compete in Albania on 21 October. If she wins, it will the country’s third crown after Maricar Balagtas in 2001 and Ann Colis in 2015.

Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Karen Gallman will be the last to compete here in the Philippines on 26 January 2019. She is currently in Australia for a family affair. She will be the first Miss Intercontinental from the Philippines if she wins.

First runner-up Vickie Rushton and second runner-up Samantha Bernardo were also present to support the activity and the queens.
