Hotel employees in storytelling outreach

EMPLOYEES volunteered their weekend for a fun learning engagement with the children of their host community.

“It has always been our commitment to effect change in the communities where we operate regardless of how big or small our efforts are.

Armed with storybooks, whimsical props and big smiles, Dusit Thani Manila volunteers recently embarked on a community outreach activity intended to bring fun, learning and lots of laughter to the children of the barangay of South Cembo in Makati City.

Despite being accustomed to a very high-tech environment, Dusit employees opted to go classic and bring back the good old fun of storytelling by engaging the kids in a very interactive story dialogue. Volunteers were able to bring the stories to life through thrilling, funny and dramatic retelling that helped bring a playful vibe to the activity.

“It has always been our commitment to effect change in the communities where we operate regardless of how big or small our efforts are. And it’s quite amazing to witness the passion and creativity of our team members in devoting their time and coming up with various social initiatives. This activity was no exception as we were able to bring fun while promoting literacy among the children in our host community,“ general manager Stanley Lo said.

Volunteer team members also reintroduced Pinoy street games as a way to get to know the kids and bond with them even more. The activity ended with a bountiful shared lunch and gift-giving for all the kids who participated.

“This storytelling activity marked the beginning of a more development-focused outreach program that Dusit Thani Manila is committed to organize annually on top of our major corporate social responsibility programs,” added Lo.
