NPA, troops clash in Abra

Soldiers and New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists have clashed in the province of Abra in the morning of 25 July 2018, according to the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) of the Philippine Army.

Troops were doing reconnaisance operations in Barangay Tabacda, Tubo when they encountered a group of 15 NPA members whom locals had reported, according to NOLCOM.

The NPA under the Komiteng Larangang Gerilya suffered an undetermined number of casualties while the government troops were unscathed during their 15-minute firefight. The other NPA withdrew and left their camp in the area.

The camp is believed to be used by the terrorist group as their clinic as blasting caps and gauze pads were found there.

In a separate incident, an NPA encampment, which can accommodate more or less 30 communist terrorists, was found and seized in the vicinity of Besao, Mountain Province at 9a.m. of 23 July 2018 by the 81st Infantry Battalion (81IB).

Meanwhile, two NPA members surrendered to NOLCOM forces in Ifugao, Mountain Province last Thursday morning, 26 July 2018.

The two rebels, who belonged to the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya “AMPIS” of Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee, surrendered in Baguio City after a series of negotiations made by two former rebels and through the efforts of the 77th Infantry Battalion, 54th Infantry Battalion, the Ifugao Provincial Police Office (PPO) and the Mountain Province PPO.
