Fake visa holder held

An Indian national has been prevented from leaving for Canada at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on account of his passport bearing a fake Canadian visa.

Ravinder Kumar, 30, arrived at NAIA 1 as a transit passenger via Malaysian Airlines flight MH806 en route to Toronto, Canada via Philippine Airlines flight PR118.

But alert immigration officers discovered the spurious visa upon closer inspection of his passport and they decided to hold the Indian for processing.

Security features in the visa were not visible while the plane ticket for Canada was booked only the day Kumar left Malaysia, said the immigration officers.

The Anti-Fraud Document Examination Section validated the Indian’s passport to be genuine. It has yet to be determined if he will be sent back to Malaysia as his country of origin or to his native India.
