15 drug ‘pushers’ collared

“Smoking tops most ordinance violations.

Fifteen alleged drug pushers were nabbed in a drug sting by policemen and operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Valenzuela City yesterday.

The suspects were nabbed a little past midnight at 205 Dulong Tangke in Malinta, said to be a den for drug pushers according to policemen.

Seven sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from the suspects, namely Joseph Manalansan, 23; John Mark Surnio, 24; Aladin delos Santos, 25; Reyson Valle, 27; Francisco Rubia III, 27; Erwin San Miguel, 33; Mar Labitad, 33; Juanita dela Cruz, 34; Bonnie Gukuong, 35; Aaron Aloantara, 35; Sheldon Gacosta, 37; Marjorie Evangelista, 39; Carla Mercado, 41; Lilibeth Lerit, 48 and Alfredo dela Cruz, 51.

The suspects did not resist arrest when the police and PDEA agents swooped down on their house.

In Quezon City, 18-year-old Reynaldo Austria, a student and resident of Barangay Doña Imelda, yielded shabu after being confronted by policemen for smoking in public.

Austria was one of 17 persons accosted all over Metro Manila for various crimes yesterday.

Meanwhile, records of the National Capital Region Police Office showed that a total of 78,359 persons have been accosted from 13 June to 5 a.m. yesterday for violations of city ordinances.

Eastern Police District has the highest number of arrested ordinance violators with 35,393 or 45.17 percent.

Southern Police District followed with 12,838 or 16.38 percent, Manila Police District with 12,283 or 15.68 percent, QCPD with 10,176 or 13.68 percent and Northern Police District had the lowest with 7,129 arrested people or 9.10 percent.
