Fugitive Ozamiz exec in PNP hands

Fugitive Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog, the younger brother of slain Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, was brought back to the Philippines from Taiwan Friday night.

The Ozamiz City councilor-turned-fugitive arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 9:57 p.m. via flight PR897.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Parojinog is facing four cases, including two counts of murder, illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of explosives.

The PNP chief added Parojinog will be confined temporarily at the agency’s Custodial Center.

Parojinog will stay at the PNP facility “pending the procedural return of warrant to the court of origin in Ozamiz City and subsequent issuance of a commitment order,” Albayalde said.

Parojinog has been transferred to Camp Crame in Quezon City to undergo booking process, according to PNP spokesman Senior Supt. Benigno Durana.

The deportation of Parojinog was made in coordination with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office.

The councilor was captured in Pingtung County, a fishing village in Taiwan, for overstaying and violating immigration laws.

In August 2017, the Department of Justice (DoJ) issued a lookout bulletin against Ricardo in connection with the series of bloody raids on the family’s homes.

The DoJ said Ricardo was not at his home when police found several firearms and ammunition in his residence.

The Parojinogs were linked to the illegal drugs trade by President Rodrigo Duterte previously and the Ozamiz mayor was killed in a drug raid along with 15 others.

The younger Parojinog has been in hiding for 10 months.
