Airport immigration revamped

The Department of Justice order to revamp the Bureau of Immigration-Port Operation Division (BI-POD) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was effected yesterday.

The revamp was a proactive move by the department to deter corruption and improve service to the public.

In a report to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, OIC Deputy Commissioner and POD chief Marc Red Mariñas said that affected airport personnel will start reporting immediately to their new posts.

No one was exempted from the personnel movement in order to prevent fraternization in the workplace, a major source of corruption in government according to one study.

The last revamp at NAIA was implemented two years ago.
