DPWH closed 27 road sections

A total of 27 road sections were closed to traffic due to flooding, landslide, soil collapse and road slip brought by typhoons Henry, Inday and Josie, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

Report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance identified seven impassable road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), ten in Region I, eight in Region III, and two in Region IV-A.

Heavy equipment and maintenance personnel from DPWH Regional and District Engineering Offices were deployed to clear roads, install warning signs and assist stranded motorists along the affected areas.

In CAR, the closed roads include: Abra-Ilocos Norte Road (K0451+150-K0451+250) in Nagaparan, Danglas, Abra due to collapsed road and damaged slope protection; Abra-Cervantes Road (K0455+805- K0455+822) in Gangal, Sallapadan, Abra due to collapsed pavement and washed out embankment of Manicbel Bridge Approach A; and Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road (K0345+600 – K0345+670) in Bagtangan, Gambang, Bakun, Benguet and K0349+300 – K0349+370 in Gakian, Gambang, Bakun, Benguet) due to road slip.

The following roads are also impassable: Kalinga – Cagayan Road, Dumanay Section; Mountain Province Boundary-Calanan-Pinukpuk-Abbut Road, MASUA Section, (K0430+450) due to collapsed soil; Junction Talubin-Barlig-Natonin-Paracelis-Calaccad Road (K0472+365- K0472+410) Amolong-Cassag Section, Bacarri, Paracelis due to road cut; and Kennon Road due to traffic due to landslide.

In Ilocos Region, the Urdaneta Jct.-Dagupan Road via Zambales Road along YMCA CSI Lucao-Tapuac Section, via Perez Road, and via Tarlac Road Caranglaan Section Mayombo Section are also flooded and closed; as well as the Dagupan-Bonuan-San Fabian Road; Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Ave Road; Pangasinan-Tarlac Road (K0190+000-K0199+000) Umanday-Bugallon Section and Poblacion Aguilar Section and Subol Bridge.

The Ventinilla section (K0199+300 – K0200+700), Bued section (K0203+800 – K0204+300), and San Miguel section (K0206+100 – K0204+300) of Urdaneta Jct.-Dagupan Road are likewise closed to traffic, so as the Malabago and Mancup Calasiao sections of San Carlos-Calasiao Road, Bued Section of Calasiao Old Road and the K0348+000 section of Tagudin-Cervantes Road, Barangay Man-atong, Suyo, Ilocos Sur due to flooding and landslide.

Roads that are affected in Region 3 are as follows: K0100+500 – K0101+000 of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) in Sta. Isabel, Dinalupihan, Bataan; Balanga Poblacion Road from Genesis Bus Terminal to Cathedral; K0068+348 (Bomba Bridge) along Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Road in San Agustin Candaba, Pampanga; K0073+400 – K0073+600 and K0073+800 – K0074+400 of Candaba-San Miguel Road in Paralaya, Candaba, Pampanga; K0167+500 – K0170+000 or the Sawat-Bilad, Camiling Section of Paniqui-Camiling-Wawa Road in Camiling, Tarlac; La Paz Section, K0129+350 – K0131+100 of Sta. Rosa-Tarlac Road in Brgy. San Roque and San Isidro, La Paz, Tarlac; K0135+800 – K0136+426 of Concepcion-La Paz Road in Brgy. Rizal and San Isidro, La Paz, Tarlac; and K0137+450 – K0139+400 or La Paz Section of Victoria-La Paz Road in Brgy. Lomboy and Matayumtayum, La Paz, Tarlac.
