Trash removed from Baywalk

Workers from the Manila Department of Public Services and the Department of Public Works and Highways removed tons of trash that washed up on the shore of Manila Bay on Thursday.

The trash appeared along the Baywalk area after the storms passed.

The workers put the trash on a dump truck.

Scavengers joined the workers in braving strong current and winds to salvage recyclable items.

An average two trucks haul garbage from the shore per day after heavy rains, according to the Manila City Hall.

Most of the trash reportedly come from the Baseco Compound in Tondo, Maynila and the provinces of Cavite and Laguna.

Authorities appealed to the public to be more responsible with their trash.
