MMDA’s TESDA trainees graduate

Employees of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) comprising the first batch of its trainees under Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) supervision graduated yesterday.

The 117 MMDA employees received their Work Scholarship Program completion certificates for various training courses at the MMDA headquarters in Makati City.

MMDA Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan Jr., encouraged the graduates to “utilize the learning and skills (you’ve acquired) to increase your productivity.”

The graduates received certificates on shielded arc welding, bread and pastry production, “mechatronics,” cookery and coffee preparations (barista).

Other courses that MMDA employees are presently taking are automotive servicing, driving, and motorcycle (small engine) servicing.

San Juan said the MMDA has decided to partner with TESDA in order to give their employees an opportunity to improve their lives through the training program which would afford them an alternative source of income. Nelson Badilla
