Makati cop, kidnap cohorts nabbed

A traffic policeman assigned in Makati City and three of his civilian cohorts were arrested early yesterday for allegedly kidnaping two Chinese nationals.

Makati City police chief Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon identified the suspects as Police Officer 2 Jaycee Abana, and brothers Mohalem, Mohamed and Mohalil, all three surnamed Macapundag.

Abana, 28, was tagged as the mastermind.

The kidnap victims were identified as Changbo Fang and Fang Zhang Bao, both residents of Yakal St., Brgy. San Antonio Village in Makati City.

Simon said Abana’s group demanded P1 million in exchange for the release of the victims.

The friends of the victims sought police assistance, leading to the suspects’ arrest around 1:30 a.m. at Nicanor Garcia St. in Brgy. Poblacion, Makati.

Police confiscated Abana’s service firearm, P80,000 in ransom money, the P8,000.00 personal money of the victims and the Montero SUV that Abana’s group used in the kidnapping.
