Marijuana worth P8.7M destroyed

Marijuana. Elements of Joint Task Force “Tala” uprooted and destroyed marijuana plants in several municipalities in the province of Kalinga over the weekend.

Marijuana plantations were discovered in the villages of Loccong, Tinglayan and Buscalan by task force members from the 50th Infantry Battalion (50IB) and 503rd Brigade (503Bde) of the Northern Luzon Command.

The simultaneous operations were conducted with assistance from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO).

The plantation sites were estimated to occupy about 7,300 square meters, according to the report which reached the Armed Forces of the Philippines yesterday.

A total of 37,650 fully grown marijuana plants were destroyed, along with 10 kilos of dried marijuana stalks, with an estimated total value of P8.7 million.
