What is it about men in politics and the gorgeous women fighting over them?

Just this weekend, another public servant figured in a love triangle with a sexy star and his now-former fiancee. In the Pep.ph article dated June 29, Rina Navarro was quoted for the first time after months of rumors involving her ex-fiance and Philippine International Trading Corp. president and CEO Undersecretary Dave Almarinez and sexy star Ara Mina.

Rumors had been going on as early as May, but the press had been able to ambush-interview Navarro during the recent announcement of the first official entries of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival. The report stated that Navarro is a member of the Cinema Evaluation Board and a political strategist for former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Francis Tolentino. It also stated that she also dabbled into movie production and credits her as producer in movies such as Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo and AWOL.

She revealed that her former fiance asked for her apology and Ara Mina, whom she used to know, admitted to the affair “closed door.” She added that the sexy star said to her that she was sorry for the situation especially since she and Almarinez have a child together.

A similar yet familiar story was in the news in June when Kris Aquino yet again talked about her aborted love story with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista. She even went on to chide the former actor for losing the opportunity to be her beau. She has been vocal about their could-have-been love affair in the past, several times.

Even our favorite legendary boxer-turned-senator Manny Pacquiao has his salacious share of love mishaps. Who could ever forget that episode when his wife Jinkee Pacquiao almost lost it when she heard about an alleged affair with former star Krista Ranillo? A viral video showed Jinkee shedding tears during a homily. Kibitzers said it might be her breaking down over the controversy, which arguably surpassed Manny’s victory over Miguel Cotto just days before the scandal broke out.

Manny now professes to be a devout Christian and Jinkee seems to be agreeing with her husband’s changed ways. Krista left showbiz for good and is now married and based in the United States.

These salacious stories continue to boggle the mind and amuse showbiz kibitzers no end. How could they not, when these women, gorgeous lot that they are, are fighting over them? What do they have that others don’t? Beats us…not!
