2 brothers killed in Caloocan ‘road rage’

Two brothers were killed by two men riding in motorcycles in what police initially said was another ‘road rage’ incident yesterday morning in Caloocan City.

In a report to Northern Police District Director Chief Supt. Gregorio Lim, P/Chief Senior Supt. Restituto Arcangel identified the fatalities as Composo brothers Demetrio, 56, and Zacarias, 46.

The victims were both residents of Robis 1, Barangay 175, Caloocan City.

Based on initial report, Arcangel said the victims were on board a Euro Sport motorcycle as they traversed along Barugo Road corner Sitio Matarik at around 10:45 a.m. when two attackers who were riding also on motorcycles, opened fire at the victims.

Responding lawmen said the victims were already dead when they arrived at the crime scene.

Nevertheless, the police still brought them to the nearest hospital where attending physicians confirmed they were already dead upon arrival.

The police were still trying to determine the motive of the killing.

However, a witness, tricycle driver named Robin Canadan, 43, who said he was also traversing in the area, claimed he saw the victims and the assailants “having a road rage.”

A village officer, Benny Ortega, told investigators that the brothers had just attended a barangay hearing, details of which, however, were not immediately known.

As the police were completely clueless on the real motive behind the crime, Arcangel instructed his men to coordinate with barangay officials for possible lead.

Arcangel also instructed the police to check if there is any closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in the area where the shooting occurred.
