This is the fastest Aston Martin DBS ever

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is now the fastest street legal Aston with a top speed of 211mph. Presenting the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, the fastest and most powerful car the company has ever produced, which moves 211 miles per hour super-GT is going after the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Aston Martin decided to revive the DBS badge last seen in 2012 for the new model to replace the Vanquish S as the top performance model of the British car company. The Superleggera, meanwhile, means “super light” in Italy and is a throwback to the original DBS of 1967.

The Vaquish nameplate, meanwhile, is now reserved for what Aston Martin is developing as the mid-engine supercar McLaren 720S rival that will be revealed in 2021.

Even as it replaces the Vanquish S, the new DBS Superleggera has a different brief.

Exterior design chief Miles Nurnberger said the name was “just wonderfully romantic.”

“This car is what it says it is. If we’d gone with another generation of Vanquish, you’d have a different car here,” Nurnberger said.

The new DBS Superleggera is based on the underpinnings of the DB11 and shares the same Aston-made turbocharged 5.2 liter V12 engine. It has been reworked to reach 715bhp, some 85hp above the DB11 AMR. Also, the engine generates 664lb-ft at 1800-5000rpm, 148lb-ft than the DB11 AMR.

Controlling this power plant, the rear wheel drive DBS Superleggera is tagged with a new transmission and gearbox, with a drive ratio of 2:9:1 bringing a claimed 0-60mph sprint to 3.4 seconds and 0-100mph to 6.4 seconds.

Design-wise, the DBS Superleggera sports a bolder front grille plus new headlights and tail lights to further differentiate it from the DB11. The model does not feature the brands winged logo on its rear boot lid, a first, in its effort to put more space between the cars in its range. Instead, the name Aston Martin is fully spelt out.

Also, another new in the company is its quad exhaust system, which has been tuned to produce a “more expressive” noise, says chief engineer Matt Becker. That is some 10db louder than the DB11. Becker said they “don’t just want more noise, we want quality noise.”

The bodywork features a front splitter, extensive underbody aerdynamics, a rear diffuser and a new Aeroblade 2 rear wing, generating 60kg of downforce at the front of the car and 120kg at the rear.

The Superleggera has a dry weight of 1693kg. It sits on bespoke Pirelli P Zero tires wrapping 21-inch tires.
