Suzuki reveals new Swift and Dzire

Ending months of speculation, Suzuki finally unveiled the covers off the new Swift and Dzire in a huge ceremony held at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Pasay City on June 27.

As testament of our commitment to delivering only the best-quality products and services, we at Suzuki Philippines are more than happy to finally share with everyone the all-new Dzire and the all-new Swift equipped with the latest of our innovative technology,” said Suzuki Philippines vice president and general manager for Automotive Shuzo Hoshikura.

“I am optimistic that these latest product offerings will drive SPH to new milestones while staying true to the goal of sharing with more Filipinos the Suzuki Way of Life,” Hoshikura said.

With an attractive price point, the all-new Suzuki Dzire boasts of its comfortable interior design and advanced technology to enhance driving experience.

A new technology Suzuki introduced in the Dzire is the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology, an automated manual transmission featuring an Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically operates clutch and gear shifting process.

Still an automatic transmission in its basic sense, the main gist of AGS is it combines the fuel efficiency of a manual transmission while driving in ease with an automatic transmission.

Though having quite a resemblance to the previous Dzire, the all-new Suzuki Dzire is actually lower and wider. This revision contributed to a more compact body that made the sedan lighter as well as delivering improved drivability. The Dzire also boasts of a larger boot capacity for cargo along with a larger legroom for passengers comfort.

The all-new Dzire also comes with additional rear console- mounted aircon vents. The functional rear console also features a 12-volt accessory socket ideal for charging of mobile devices. While keeping the same ‘Swift vibe’ that made previous two generations perform well in its segment, the all-new Suzuki Swift oozes transformation. One of the country’s favorite hatchbacks returns with sportier exterior features such as stronger fender arches all around, wrap-around window accented with blacked-out pillars, aggressive front grill and bumper along with its unique vertically arranged headlamps.

Having defined bodylines, the third-gen Suzuki Swift radiates a stronger and more active appeal compared to the previous Swift models. Complementing the new character of the latest Swift is its revamped interior features.

The latest Suzuki swift now has 256 liters of luggage space which is 54 liters more than the previous Swift. Also, thanks to the redesigned back seats because the all-new Swift now has a larger headroom space for back seat passengers. Unlike the Dzire, the all-new Swift will not be available with the latest AGS tech but will utilize CVT for its automatic transmission variants.

The all-new Swift and the Dzire will be powered by the same 1.2-liter in-line four K12M engine which outputs 82 horses and 113 N-m of torque. Though those numbers are not much looking at the spec sheet, remember that these two weigh only a little over a ton each and power-to-weight ratio is king in this segment.

Another feature the all-new Swift and Dzire share is the utilization of the new-generation HEARTECT platform by Suzuki. It is a well-engineered platform design by Suzuki that is lighter and highly rigid than its previous platform. It also has increased underbody stiffness which contributes to the smooth and easy drivability of these new Suzukis.

The Dzire is priced at – GL (M/T) PhP 638,000 and the GL (AGS) is PhP 698,000.

The Swift goes for – GL (M/T) PhP 755,000; GL (CVT) PhP 799,000; GLX (CVT) PhP 899,000.
