NBA to see action in Vancouver, Montreal

NEW YORK, United States — The NBA’s 6th Canada Series pre-season games will include stops for the Toronto Raptors at Vancouver and Montreal, the league announced Thursday.

NBA All-Stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry will lead the Raptors against Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers on September 29 at Vancouver.

On October 10, the Raptors will face Asian-American standout Jeremy Lin and the Brooklyn Nets in Montreal.

It will mark the NBA’s fifth pre-season game in Montreal and the fourth in Vancouver, once the home of the Memphis Grizzlies, as part of the Canada series.

“One of the many great things about being Canada’s team is that we get a chance to bring the game we love to different parts of the country and to connect with our fans,” said Raptors president Masai Ujiri, a Nigerian who was named 2013 NBA Executive of the Year.

The Raptors are coming off their best season, finishing 59-23 with the top record in the Eastern Conference before being swept by Cleveland in the second round of the playoffs.
