Free eye checkup for Tondo folks

A private group calling itself Special Philippine Eye Care Solutions (SPECS) is giving free eye check-ups, medicines and eyeglasses to residents of Tondo, Manila.

It was announced by Andronica Roma, president of SPECS foundation Incorporated which is now celebrating its 5th anniversary at PNR compound in Tondo.

Roma said SPECS revealed the space it is occupying in Tondo had been given by President Duterte, and now it wants to reciprocate by helping the poor and those who cannot afford to pay the services of eye treatment.

Hundreds of residents had trooped to the SPECS old train coaches-turned clinics at the PNR compound.

Roma said SPECS is planning to add more clinics in Bicol, Laguna and in other parts of Luzon.

Roma for her part sought the help of the city government of Manila to provide them with a relocation as their present clinics will be demolished to give way for the construction of a new mall in Tutuban.
