Calum Scott to return to Manila in October

Calum Scott attained global stardom when he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015. Later on, he took the world by storm when he officially released his audition song ‘Dancing On My Own.’

Just three months after dazzling Filipino fans with a special performance and subsequent meet-and-greet activity at the Shangri-La Plaza mall in Mandaluyong, British singer-songwriter Calum Scott will embark on his “Only Human Asia Tour” this October.

Scott, a former recruitment officer from Hull, rose to prominence as one of the finalists and fan favorites of the 9th season of the popular talent search series, Britain’s Got Talent and has since become known for hits like “Rhythm Inside,””You are the Reason” and his rendition of “Dancing on my Own,” originally a hit for Swedish sensation Robyn in 2010.

Released as a single, it became a monster hit all over again in several countries as it quickly accumulated more than 6.5 million worldwide sales, reached platinum status five times in Australia.

It also resulted in the 29-year old Englishman being nominated for the Brit Award for British Single Of The Year.

The album where it came from was a hit with critics and audiences as well. “Only Human” was particularly big in Australia where it peaked at #5 in the album chart there.

In addition to “Dancing on my Own,” Only Human has several other highlights including the uplifting “You Are The Reason,” the aching piano ballad “Hotel Room” and the equally engaging “Rhythm Inside.”

Billboard magazine hailed the album as a triumph. “Scott’s stunningly pure voice is affecting enough in itself, but his lyrics on every one of the (album’s) tracks are vulnerable and raw,” noted the Bible of the pop music industry.

The Huffington Post calls Only Human a “compelling debut album” and “an impressive splash” for Scott.

Filled with deeply personal material, Only Human showcases Scott’s ability to transform pain into beauty, whether he is addressing coming out to his father, unrequited longing, adolescent isolation, or the gratitude he feels toward his sister Jade, who pushed him to sing on stage for the first time and auditioned alongside him on Britain’s Got Talent.

“It was a turning point professionally and personally. [When] I was trying to whittle down the songs, the pattern was so obvious — human nature, emotion and the LGBT issues,” Scott told Billboard in a recent interview.

Calum Scott’s “Only Human Asia Tour” happening on October 30 at the Kia Theatre is presented by AEG Presents and Ovation Productions.
