‘Selfie’ sans a CP?

Police yesterday seized a cellular phone supposedly owned by former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. following a surprise inspection of his detention cell at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

Revilla’s wife, Bacoor Rep. Lani Mercado, denied the cellphone belonged to him in her talk with reporters at Crame.

“That Facebook account has an administrator. He has no access to [a] cellular phone because that is not allowed,” said Mercado of Revilla’s FB post.

Problem with Mercado’s comment, though, was the FB post was made to appear as a “selfie” of Revilla himself taken in his detention cell.

Senior Supt. Benigno Durana Jr., PNP spokesman, said the PNP is now conducting an investigation to determine if there were lapses on the part of the Custodial Center’s guards.

“This is a violation of the policies, rules and regulations being implemented in the Custodial Center,” Durana said. Durana vowed those who would be found liable will be dealt with accordingly.

The seizure apparently came following a Facebook post, supposedly by Revilla, recalling his fourth year in detention last June 20.

The post read: Today is exactly my 4th year in prison. This is 4 years away from my family; missing out on the milestones of my children’s lives; 4 long years that I can no longer get back. May mga panahon na dumating sa akin na talagang gusto ko na sumuko.

Pagod na rin po ako. Pagod na pagod na… Ganunpaman, higit akong kumukuha ng lakas ng loob sa inyo at ibayong tiwala sa Panginoon na matatapos na rin naman lahat nito.

Dalangin ko pa rin ang katarungan. Dasal ko pa rin na mangibabaw na ang katotohanan. Hangad ko na sana, sa wakas, makamit ko ang hustisya. Let us all continue to pray together! God is good!

Revilla has been detained for plunder and graft charges in connection to the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
