Galvez: MSU students inspired troops during Marawi siege

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. yesterday cited students of the Mindanao State University (MSU) whose “resiliency and bravery” served as inspiration to soldiers at the height of last year’s Marawi City siege.

Acting as guest during the 53rd MSU commencement exercises at its Main Campus Marawi City, Galvez expressed his admiration to the students and faculty of the MSU for carrying on with its academic schedule even when members of the Maute-ISIS group laid siege on the Islamic City.

He said that despite MSU Main Campus’ close proximity to the main battle area, where exchange of gun fires happened for five months from May to October last year, students and faculty members continued to attend classes.
