UdM edges other private schools in passing board examinations

Universidad de Manila edged other private schools in the number of passers in state boards.

This was the declaration made by Atty. Julio Desamito, VP for Administration and Finance of UDM. Desamito said the city-owned college had been steered to level up with top college and universities all over the land.

Appearing at the weekly Tapatan sa Aristocrat forum, Desamito said right now the 15,000 students of UDM have been undergoing culture change where faculties were told to sharpen students with in-depth approach in their choice courses at par with standard being used by the likes of La Salle, Ateneo, UST and UP.

Desamito explained the proof of their claim was the high batting average of board passers in several fields like College of Nursing, Criminology, Engineering where 96 per cent of their graduates passed the state board.

Desamito said for him it was a noble work and a mission to work for the welfare of the 15 poorest of the poor Manila residents where most are living in slum areas and the only way to change their lives was through education.

“When I was invited to join UDM, president Ernest Maceda for the school post I stopped and prayed if leaving my lucrative job in private is the right thing to do, but I had received answer as in serving 15,000 poor students everyday seems a good deed to know that I will be an instrument by god in changing the life of many less fortunate people of city of Manila and that was my consideration why I accepted the job” Desamito said.

On the part of engineer Elmerto Pineda, UDM dean of College of Engineering, he was proud to say their students this time have shown their capabilities in besting state boards for at least three consecutive years.

Some of my fresh graduates now are easily employed in big corporation with huge starting salaries like PLDT, Meralco, Smart telcos and many refutable corporations.

And it is suprising to tell everyone that this year a UDM engineering graduate bagged the second top placer in the board examination with 92%.
