Man keeping 553 guns, ammos arrested

The seized guns. (Image from the LA Sheriff's Office) A 60-year-old man from Agua Dulce, California has been arrested and charged with guns, rifles and ammunition possession after Los Angeles police found a total 553 firearms and magazines in his home.

Manuel Fernandez’s arms cache was tipped off by a neighbor to police and his home north of Los Angeles was raided last week, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Department of Justice said on Monday.

Los Angeles County sheriffs initially found and seized 432 guns in the house of Fernandez, a convicted felon.

Police also seized 30 illegal firearms from the home of a woman connected to Fernandez and 91 more during a second search of his house the following day.

“Detectives also seized computers, cellphones, and hard drives from the residence believed to be involved in the illicit purchase of firearms by the suspect,” the sheriff’s department said in its release, according to ABC News.

Fernandez has posted bail and is scheduled for arraignment on July 9.
