OFW in N. Vizcaya to get aid

Over a hundred displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Nueva Viscaya will receive a livelihood assistance under the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program (BPBHP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

OWWA Region 2 Reintegration Unit officer Juana Nobleza said at least P2.6 million has been allotted for 123 returning OFWs in the province this year.

OWWA officials and the provincial government of Nueva Viscaya spearheaded the distribution of the livelihood assistance worth P20,000 each for the first batch of OFWs recently.

“This figure is part of the 123 recipients of our BPBHP in this province. We will schedule the same activity for other recipients,” Nobleza said.

Aside from financial aid, the OWWA’s program also provides entrepreneurship development training to jump start the business ventures of returning Pinoy workers.

For his part, Nueva Viscaya Gov. Carlos Padilla expressed gratitude to the OWWA for providing help for OFWs and their families.

The governor vowed to look into the possibility of augmenting the assistance given by the OWWA for the OFWs.
