Magnitude 5.2 quake shakes Zambales, Metro Manila

A MAGNITUDE 5.2 earthquake struck off Zambales shaking the province and some parts of Metro Manila Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The epicenter of the 5:46 p.m. tremor was some 57 kilometers southwest of San Felipe town and 18 kilometers underground.

The tremor was felt in San Felipe at Intensity IV; Cainta, Rizal at Intensity III; Quezon City, Pasay City, Pasig City and Mandaluyong City at Intensity II; Olongapo City, Guagua, Pampanga and Marikina City at Intensity II; and Muntinlupa City, Pasig City and Tagaytay City at Intensity I.

There was no report of casualty and damage.

Phivolcs forecast aftershocks but they are not expected to cause any damage.
