“It is only you who can fail or succeed to reach your dreams. No one but you, and that’s what I want my kids to know.”

Filipino rapper and song writer Gloc 9 says no dreams should be hindered by people who may try to bring you down.

Gloc 9 (real name Aristotle Pollisco) knows how, despite life’s struggles, it is possible to realize one’s aspirations — by firmly believing in yourself.

This is what the music icon, dubbed as “Makata sa Pinas,” wants to impart to his kids.

This Father’s Day, Gloc-9 reiterates this to his kids:

“Sa aking mga anak at kahit na sino lalo na sa mga bata ay walang puwedeng magsabi sayo na hindi mo puwedeng tuparin yung mga pangarap mo (To my kids and even to other children, no one should tell you that you can’t reach your dreams),” Gloc-9 said in an interview.

The 40-year-old rapper stressed that nobody should decide your dream’s fate because you will be the one who shall make it come to life.

“Ikaw lang ang puwedeng mag-fail or makapagpatupad ng pangarap mo. Walang iba kundi ikaw lang so ‘yun ang gusto ko lang iwanan sa kanila (It is only you who can fail or succeed to reach your dreams. No one but you, and that’s what I want my kids to know),” he adds.

Gloc-9 is father to 13-year-old twins Sean and Shaun and 15-month-old baby girl Sav, his kids with wife Thea Pollisco.

Even when it’s not Father’s Day, Gloc-9 sees to it that special occasions and free time from work are well-spent with his kids.

He says, “Lagi naman ‘yun ang agenda ko kapag Father’s Day at mayroon akong libreng araw to be with my children (It is always my priority to be with my family during Father’s Day and when I have a free day).”

Aside from this, the multi-awarded Pinoy rapper also highlights being patriotic as he has always tried to impart through his music in the last 21 years.

His hits, including “Upuan,” “Magda,” “Sirena,” “Hari ng Tondo” and many more, have sparked a critical perspective for social issues.

Being a Pinoy rap icon, Gloc-9 was recently launched as the brand ambassador of international brand New Era for its Filipino-themed collection last June 12 at the TriNoma Activity Center.

As part of the brand’s third year anniversary in the Philippines, New Era and Gloc-9 collaborated to create the new line, highlighting the icon’s contribution in the music scene.

The Gloc-9 Limited Edition Collectible caps include a snapback 9FIFTY silhouette cap that has an embroidered “Makata sa Pinas” gold text on the front of the crown.

The design includes a stanza, which says “Kaya sa gabi ako’y palaging nakatingala, kasi puwede palang maging sigurado ang baka” stitched on the right side of the crown.

This was from one of his hit songs “Alalay ng Hari (from his album, MKNM: Mga Kwento ng Makata) which tells of his humble beginnings under the mentorship of the late master rapper Francis Magalona.

Gloc-9 expressed his gratitude to his supporters and New Era for believing in his work as a profound lyricist.
