LTFRB tasked to regulate TNCs, TNVS

Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade yesterday signed a department order (DO) giving full authority to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to regulate and to supervise Transport Network Companies (TNCs) and the Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) units that operate under them.

In the DO, the DoTr recognized the establishment of the roles of TNCs and TNVS in providing transport services to the public, as well as in promoting safe, reliable and efficient land transportation services in the country.

As mandated by law, the LTFRB is tasked to regulate and monitor the compliance of TNCs and TNVS with policies, laws and regulations.

Tugade said the regulation is seen to benefit all parties.

Meanwhile, DoTr Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Tim Orbos said that the signing of the DO is relevant, as it takes into paramount consideration the safety and protection of commuters.
