A chasm too wide

A popular collegiate athlete was the toast of her school for her beauty, brain and athletic prowess.

In fact, she was so good at her sport that she was tapped to become part of the national team a couple of times while leading her school to several championship runs.

She has several thousand fans and followers.

Two men were largely credited for her success — her father and an influential sport official who were very good friends.

It was given that she would not join any team other than where the influential official has control of.

In a shocking development, the popular collegiate athlete had bolted out of her former team.

And to make matters worse — or her camp said maybe better — she shifted leagues, too.

Sources said the popular player’s decision had nothing to do with on-court opportunities, financial benefit or future athletic career.

It’s because her father had a falling out with the influential sports official.

She’ll play for her new team in a rival league for the next two years.

Two years that are long enough to widen the gap between her dad and the once sports backer.
