MRT-3 offers free rides on Independence Day’

THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced Saturday that the Metro Rail Transit 3 will offer free rides to all passengers on Independence Day, June 22.

The free rides will be offered from from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to an announcement by DOTr through its Twitter account.

It will be the 1207th Independence Day celebration in the Philippines.

In last year’s celebration, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said that every day should be a celebration of independence.

“Sa araw-araw na pamumuhay ay maaaring makamit ng isang indibidwal ang kaniyang kalayaan maging sa pinaka-simpleng pamamaraan na kapaki-pakinabang sa pangkalahatan (In our daily lives, we can achieve independence even in the simplest of ways to benefit all),” said Tugade then.

He had urged Filipinos to stop tolerating procrastination, laziness, and narrow-mindedness.

“Ngayon na ang panahon upang palayain natin ang ating mga kaisipan sa nakaugaliang sisihan. Tama na ang turuan! (Now is the time to free ourselves from the blame-game mind set. Let’s stop finger-pointing,” he said.

Ang tanong nga sa akin ng ilan: “Bakit hindi natapos ang mga proyekto noong nakaraang pamunuan?” Ang sagot ko: “Huwag ninyo akong tanungin ng ganyan. Tanungin niyo ako kung paano at kailan ko tatapusin ‘yan,” Tugade said.
