A bunch of liars

A Sports Official recently sworn in to take over the reign of a sports council could not believe his misfortune when his group was banned from receiving financial help from government due to unliquidated past expenses of his predecessor.

He badly needs the money now as he has to fund a national undertaking entered into by the previous leader and guaranteed by government.

Sports Official said he only relies on his boss’s generosity in funding the initial operations related to the undertaking, but said he needs funds from government or the lack of it would spell disaster for the country later this year.

The government agency in charge of the money could not release funds at this time or its officials would risk questions from the Commission of Audit.

The unliquidated amount, however, was spent by the previous administration supposedly for track suits and uniforms of the athletes who competed in a recent international competition.

Sports Official wants to settle the problem as quickly as he could, but top officials of the past leader are uncooperative.

“I asked them about the unaccounted amount,” he said. “They assured us that they have liquidated the expenses with government.”

A check, however, revealed they have not done so to this day.

“They give us a big headache,” Sports Official said. “They’re liars.”
