More rains expected today till weekend

(Pagasa) yesterday said the country will continue to experience heavy rains today until weekend.

According to Pagasa, this is is due to tropical depression “Domeng” which has intensified.

Domeng was spotted 835 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora and packing top sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and 65 kph gusts, Pagasa meteorologist Robert Badrina said.

The storm, acccording to Badrina, may enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat from today till weekend.

Domeng is likely to hit land and will leave the country on Sunday if it continues to move north-northwest at 15 kph, Pagasa said.

Last Wednesday night, several places in Metro Manila and nearby provinces became flooded due to continuous rains spawned by Domeng.

Classes from Kinder to High School were suspended in Quezon City.

In Cainta and Taytay in the province of Rizal, classes were also suspended in all levels.

G. Araneta Avenue in Quezon City experienced chest-deep waters. Other parts of the city had knee- high waters.

Several areas in Manila were also submerged.
