The Office of the Vice President, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, provided financial assistance to vendors of a public market in Tondo, Manila affected by a fire last month.

A total of 650 vendors received P3,000 each.

Pritil Public Market in Barangay 91, Zone 8, District 1 in Tondo, Manila was razed on 28 April. The fire destroyed all the stalls in the market.

Barangay Captain Antonio Asilo said the fire left the vendors without livelihood.

Asilo said the fire also destroyed the second floor of the adjacent barangay hall, including monitoring equipment and electronics.

The village chief added that some of the market and ambulant vendors are temporarily selling outside the market.

Asilo thanked Vice President Sara Duterte for financially supporting the affected vendors, which will help them recover from their losses.
