Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo continues to scale new heights in her already illustrious career.

On Monday, 22 May, came news that the 27-year-old actress has been nominated as one of the international contenders for the 2023 Seoul International Drama Awards.

The award-giving body nominated Bernardo in the Outstanding Asian Stars category where she will face off against celebrities from other Asian nations, including Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand and Japan.

According to the SDA, “Winners selected by the vote will also be invited to the ceremony to share the joy of winning the award with the general public.”

Fans can cast their votes for the winners via the Idolchamp voting app, which will be accessible from 15 June onwards.

The 18th edition of the Seoul International Drama Awards is scheduled to take place on 21 September with a live broadcast on Korea’s KBS2TV.

The competition for the Outstanding Asian Stars category is expected to be intense.

In Korea, well-known actors and actresses like Song Joong-ki, Lee Je-hoon, Yoon-ah, Park Eun-bin and Song Hye-kyo are also in the running.

Meanwhile, China’s Lai Ter-Chien, former member of the group Wanna One; Wang He Di or Dylan Wang, who played the main character in the hit series Meteor Garden; and Shuxin Yu, the beloved heroine of Love Between Fairy and Devil, are set to compete.

Nichkhun from 2PM is representing Thailand, while Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Kento Yamazaki, two famous names to Korean fans, are the nominees from Japan.

Vivian Sung, a Taiwanese actress best recognized for her work on Our Times, and Bernardo round out the list of performers competing for the award.

With three eagerly awaited films in development, Bernardo is also on top of her game in Philippine showbiz.

The three projects are A Very Good Girl, a Petersen Vargas production in which she stars with internationally acclaimed actress Dolly de Leon; Elena 1944, to be helmed by eminent filmmaker Olivia Lamasan; and a yet-untitled movie with her long-time beau Daniel Padilla under the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina.

The Seoul International Drama Awards, which were established in 2006, have come to be known as South Korea’s only international drama festival.

Bernardo’s fellow Star Magic artist Belle Mariano received the Outstanding Asian Star award from SDA in 2022.
