Shane Bernabe, from Kamp Kawayan, emerged as the winner of the widely followed fifth season of “The Voice Kids.”
Bernabe topped the singing contest, which had its grand finale last Sunday, by receiving the highest number of total online votes. The “Kiddie Rock Popstar“ participated alongside Xai Martinez from coach KZ Tandingan’s team and Rai Fernandez from coach Martin Nievera’s team.
As the new champion, Bernabe will receive not only a recording deal with UMG Philippines, but also a cash prize of P1 million.
The three coaches were in awe of Bernabe’s exceptional skills when she performed the classic “Sino Ang Baliw” during the finale.
“Grabe lang talaga. Ang paborito ko sa performance mo, ‘yung mawawala ka lang. Nasa mata mo, you’re a ready performer. You’re already a champion. You did it. You owned it. Speechless si coach (You’re incredible. What I liked about your performance, you lose yourself in it. I can see it in your eyes, you’re ready),” said Coach Bamboo.

Shane also touched fans’ hearts with her moving rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” during her duet with Bamboo on the opening night of the final showdown. She then performed Gloc 9’s “Sirena” the same night, further solidifying her frontrunner position in the contest.
Shane’s triumph is the second time a member of Coach Bamboo’s team has won The Voice Kids competition.
Season 5 of The Voice Kids made its long-awaited return to Philippine television on 25 February with lone returning mentor Bamboo, joined by two new hosts Robi Domingo and Bianca Gonzalez. The auditions for the program, which began in November, attracted young vocalists between the ages of six and 12.
The show’s notable former coaches include Sharon Cuneta, who made her The Voice Kids debut in the third season; Lea Salonga, a mentor to hopefuls for four seasons; and Sarah Geronimo, who was a mentor throughout except in the third season.
