CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Authorities here reported on Monday that former members of communist terrorist groups surrendered while several members of their support group withdrew from the association in Central Luzon as the government continues its fight against insurgency in the region.
According to Police Regional Office 3 Police Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr., the surrender of ex-rebels and the withdrawal of support from their groups was the result of the continuous police-community peace building activities and special intelligence driven operations of Central Luzon cops.
In Aurora, two former members of the underground mass organizations BATARIS and Samahang Kabataan ng Aurora identified as “Ka Rubie” and “Bigboy” voluntarily surrendered to joint operatives of 1st and 2nd PMFC, Aurora PPO.
The two turned over one Cal. 38 revolver without serial number; three live ammunition; two 40mm High Explosives; one Deposporo or improvised firearm; one piece detonating cord; one piece blasting cap and subversive documents.
In Bataan, a former CTG member identified as “Ka Elmer” surrendered to joint personnel of 2nd PMFC, Bataan PPO and yielded one improvised shotgun, two pieces live ammunition and one 40mm high explosive. Also, three members of Gabriela Women’s Party pledged their allegiance back to the government and turned-in one Cal. 38 revolver.

Meanwhile, 20 Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid and three members of Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa withdrew their support to the CPP-NPA as elements the of 2nd and 1st PMFC, Nueva Ecija PPO together with other concerned police units facilitated their withdrawal.
In Olongapo City, a former Bagong Hukbong Bayan member identified as “Ka Otso” submitted himself to authorities and turned over one Cal. 38 revolver, one hand grenade, two pieces blasting cap and one military time fuse. Also, a member of GABRIELA and ANAKPAWIS denounced the communist terrorist groups and returned to government side.
Over at Tarlac, Santa Ignacia MPS and Capas MPS personnel facilitated the voluntary surrender of “Ka Efren,” a former member of Militia ng Bayan at Barangay Poblacion, East Santa Ignacia, Tarlac. Ka Efren also handed over one Cal. 45 pistol without serial number.
Meanwhile, 1st PMFC and 2nd PMFC, Zambales PPO with other concerned units facilitated the voluntary surrender of two former members of Militia ng Bayan namely “Ka Alex” and “Ka Noel.” Ka Noel surrendered one Cal. 38 revolver and one Senatel Magnum (dynamite) with time fuse.
