Members of Filipino alternative rock band Mayonnaise are preparing for their eagerly-awaited performance on 20 May, which caps off their 20th anniversary celebration in the music industry. From 5 p.m. till late at night, the event will take place in the park Quezon Memorial Circle.
The five-piece alt-rock band has made the event completely free as a way of saying thanks to its loyal supporters.
The anniversary show, titled MAYO 20: The Finale, is mounted by Yellow Room Music and Killer Bear with assistance from Minsan Studios and Araw Sa Gabi. It will see the band perform a selection of its hit songs, including crowd favorites such as “Jopay,” “Ipagpatawad Mo,” “Binalewala,” “Tayo Na Lang Dalawa” and “Kapag Lasing Malambing.”
As an added treat, several esteemed Filipino pop acts will grace the stage during the anniversary concert, among them Barbie Almalbis, Champ Lui Pio of Hale, Sud Ballecer of Sud, Argee Guerrero of I Belong to the Zoo and Josh Villena of Autotelic.
Mayonnaise lead singer Monty Macalino, reflecting on the group’s enduring success, said: “I’m honestly surprised that we’ve made it this far. MAYO 20: The Finale is more than just a celebration of longevity and all the great things that happened to us. We want to give our fans what they truly deserve, and we want to return the favor by going all out with our performance. We will always be forever grateful to them for showering us with unconditional love and support.”
Mayonnaise started its 20th anniversary concert tour last year with performances across the nation, from Luzon to Mindanao.
For P1,000, fans can get the exclusive MAYO20 official shirt, even though entry to the performance is free for all spectators. The
limited-edition shirt includes a VIP card that entitles owners to a different entrance and closer access to the stage.
