The Department of Health has disowned an article circulating online claiming to have found a cure for hypertension.
In an advisory released on Saturday, the agency clarified that the said post is not in any way or form approved, affiliated, or recommended by the DoH and its attached agencies.
Thus, it stated that healthy habits and lifestyle, including proper nutrition and exercise, can help stem non-communicable diseases and comorbidities like hypertension.
“Be sure to regularly have check-ups and consult your physician to help supplement and keep sickness at bay,” the advisory read.
The DoH then reminded the public to source information only from legitimate sources and platforms.
Despite declining deaths from hypertension complications from 48,000 in 2021 to 35,000 in 2022, according to DoH research, the said illness was still considered the fifth leading cause of death in the Philippines last year.
